PETALING JAYA: Whether buying groceries or dining at restaurants, Malaysians are feeling the squeeze due to rising food costs.

To find out exactly how much more Malaysians are paying for food items ranging from poultry to vegetables as well as cooked meals at restaurants over the past five years, The Star looked at data from the Statistics Department (DOSM).

Based on DOSM’s figures we created two interactive calculators.

The first calculates prices of groceries from a list that you can select.

The second is a calculator for prepared meals ranging from roti canai to biryani.
